It’s that time of the year again when we all set out with the best intentions to be our best selves ever! I don’t know about you, but I still feel like I am trying to get over what was 2023. Let me be real for a moment, I was not my best self in 2023. I struggled.
As someone who helps others become their best selves ever, this is hard to admit. I was my worst client of the year. I didn’t eat as well as I should have. I didn’t lift weights as often as I could have. My sleep was not the best, I battled a bad attitude towards my health and fitness, in addition to letting my lack of motivation get the best of me. I started the year with the best intentions, but 2023 didn’t end the way I had hoped.
Some shortcomings are just part of life, but it’s what you do about what you can do that matters. I tried to be too many things at once and when I wasn’t exceeding in all areas, I gave up. I let the little things derail the big picture. This is something we all go though and it is always good to recognize your faults and improve upon what you can. One step at a time! That is key. Multitasking is overrated; you don’t give your all when you have too many things to do at once.
Today I write unto us a few reminders as we set out on our New Year’s goals and resolutions. Remember progress takes time. Be patient with yourself and if you need to, slow down. One foot in front of the other and don’t stretch yourself too thin or you’re just asking for a let down. Be okay when things don’t go as planned because life happens. Lastly, get yourself a support system, it makes a huge difference.
